In November, the Government submitted 74 documents to the NA; meanwhile, the NA issued many important resolutions, including those regarding the socio-economic development plan for 2021. At the 10th session, the NA also issued a resolution approving three cabinet members, including the Minister of Science and Technology, the Minister of Health, and the Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam.

In terms of the NA Question and Answer session, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc highly appreciated Deputy Prime Ministers, Ministers who raised their sense of responsibility, answered issues clearly and profoundly, showing a thorough grasp of fields they are in charge of.

Last month, in the role as ASEAN Chairman, Vietnam successfully hosted the 37th ASEAN Summit and related Summits, with 84 documents adopted, which were the largest number for such events. Most notably, the signing of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) with the participation of ten ASEAN member nations and five partner countries has created a vast market of 2.2 billion people.

In November, the Government took rapid and drastic measures in response to natural disasters in the central region. The Government granted nearly 16,000 tons of rice and nearly 1,300 billion VND (over US$ 56 million) from the central budget reserve for flood victims. Besides, the Vietnamese Fatherland Front and localities nationwide mobilized great social resources to support Central people. To date, the lives of flood-hit people have been gradually stabilized.

In the context of the complicated development of COVID-19 in Ho Chi Minh City, PM stressed that it is essential to carry out tougher measures. The Government has assigned the Ministry of Transport to strictly handle collectives and individuals that do not comply with regulations on epidemic prevention and control. In addition, localities, ministries, and sectors have been requested to stringently obey anti-COVID-19 rules especially wearing masks and disinfection.

Concerning socio-economic issues, PM underlined the need to continue improving the business and investment environment in an attempt to obtain the best results in December. At the end of December, the Government is slated to hold the National Socio-Economic Conference to review the realization of tasks in 2020. Ministries and branches must raise their sense of responsibility in contributing their opinions to the Government’s draft resolution.
