This morning (October 30), Minister of Public Security Gen. To Lam received and worked with the US’ high-level delegates led by the Secretary of State Michael Pompeo, who has been on an official visit to Vietnam to celebrate the 25th founding anniversary of Vietnam-US diplomatic relations, according to Congannhandan.
At the meeting, Gen. To Lam welcomed and thanked the US Secretary of State for the official visit to Vietnam and for taking the time to visit and work with the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam.
This meeting contributes to the cooperation between the two countries in the field of security and deepening Vietnam-US comprehensive partnership as well as the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the US, creating a foundation for strengthening, promoting strategic trust, contributing to deepening bilateral relations.
For his part, the US Secretary of State extended his condolences to residents in Vietnam’s central region over great losses caused by floods.
The Vietnamese minister spoke highly of the outcomes of cooperation in national defense-security between the two countries in the recent past and voiced his hope that Vietnam and the US will continue close and practical collaboration to deal with common security challenges in the region, according to Vietnamplus.
Vietnam and the US have made strides in security and law enforcement cooperation, he noted, adding that the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) has become an important partner of various US agencies.
